To The Coming Dawn

Quick. For so many nights we were in darkness,
but running confers upon us strength, what
we need to make out shapes. In the dim blur, a knee

jerk reaction transfers the sun’s work
from some interned place to the coming
dawn. Lungs burn, but the new morning’s yawn
drives us on. It spurs our lives.
