June 2

It’s Tuesday, and the sky is blue.

A steady light rises in the east
We eat breakfast seated
in the new sun and finish sated.

We rise, as a duet, like yeast
two loaves who leave a dusty
trail as we tease the counter.

The days charge us dues.
We adjust. Somedays warmed.
And on some, we are sautéd.
