What words… for a moment I thought
my thoughts were sincere, but hear
here the thin overlay of skin that keeps
meaning out and meaning in.

Try though I may to share the tree
that loses its leaves right in front of me,
what you see has another shade of
meaning out and meaning in.

What words… for a wisp we wished
what came from our hearts came
from our lips. Alas, we lisp
meaning out and meaning in.

And so we shall fumble, beings
corporeal and spirits compact
trying to replace our sentience
with meaning out and meaning in.
